Looking for a source for 0.5 oz fiberglass cloth. Checked all the standard sources, ACP, CST and they don't offer any. Looking to get about 5 to 10 yards.

Jim : Try MECOA and select the K&B product. Tower has GP stuff. but the quality is poor.

Jim :

Advertised as 0.6oz, so not quite as light as you're asking for -- http://www.cstsales.com/e_glass_cloth.html (http://www.cstsales.com/e_glass_cloth.html). I've heard good things about CST, but never bought from them.
-
I saw that CST has the 0.6 oz stuff. If I can't find the 0.5 oz fabric, I'll go with the 0.6 oz.

At 30.00 a yard the stuff isn't by any means a bargain. One yard won't do an average size model. So 60.00 is more like it.
FMPOV, spending that kind of loot, the advantages would have to be considered, disadvantages also if any?
My R/C pattern years, we all used .75 oz. cloth. Even the guys that flew Master Pattern, so I never questioned the thickness or the weight.
I have foam sheeted wings on the Pushy Galore and I was just going to use silk.

If you buy 10 or more yards it's $9.25 a yard. Pretty competitive price.

That's now 90.00 and change. More for the money, but is using that product worth the cost?

Depends if you're looking for the lightest weight. Count the grams and you will save the ounces. FYI, I'll be using it for a composite wing, so every gram will be important to keep it light.

If your doing work with composites, then the 90.00 investment could be considered a non issue.
I'm not that high on the bar, but I would like stiff. Glass seems to give you a stiffer wing.

Try this one: Thayercraft Inc Phone # 800-218-1375, good website. 0.56 Fiberglass Cloth Style 104 , 504 VOLAN FINISH.
Excellent as the 504 Volan conforms to curves better. 10 yards for $38.04. .56 is better than the heaver stuff as it is lighter and easier to
work with finish etc. Sig also has glass cloth. I use the .56 on everything that has a solid surface . I had a previous post on this Richard Oliver
finishing method which works really well and is light. The VOLAN glass cloth is hands down the best I have ever used thanks to Richard Oliver
for that one.

Walter:
Thanks for the info. Sounds promising. Can't seem to find their website though. Do you have the link?

Last I heard Steve Thayer was putting the business on hold to concentrate on other things. Website is gone but a friend tells me if you contact him directly he is still selling. His prices were the best for many years. I may try emailing, I'll post if I learn anything.

Contact Thayer Craft directly. They don't seem to have a functioning web page, or have disabled it.
They do currently sell directly and through eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/thayercraft/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
Here are some archived thayercraft webpage links from 2016 from the web archive wayback machine:

Just a heads up I have a new order of .56 Volan Glass Cloth on the way from Thayercraft from the website so it appears that they are up and running again! Order arrived 2/23/2018 so yes they are still providing this glass cloth.
