Control surface throws.
« on: July 25, 2014, 01:35:00 AM »
Greetings ladies and gentlemen.  H^^

I would like to know your opinions on control surface throws.
I'm talking about aileron vs elevator surface movement.
As some of you would be aware I am scratch building a UHP G nobler. Yes its coming along great. Pics when I'm done so you cant see my imperfections.  LL~
I have searched here and there and found very little to educate myself on the matter so I'll put it to you again.

When connecting the push rods to the aileron control horn there is 3 holes to choose from. I can have both push rods (one from the bellcrank and one from the elevator) in the same hole which allows both surfaces to move in unison or have them in different holes creating either the elevators to throw more or the ailerons to throw more.
Common sense tells me to have both push rods in the same control horn hole which would allow even movement of both surfaces.
BUT
If I am better off having more movement from the elevators or more movement from the ailerons then I guess this is why I am posting this thread.
What is the best outcome to achieve?

Thanks in advance.
Damian.

Good Morning Damien;

  Countless posts here in the various forums re: flap/elevator ratios and control geometry.  May want to start with this one, and then go from there...
