Tail Wheel Mount
« on: June 26, 2006, 08:50:01 PM »
Pretty standard setup. Tail wheel is removable so you can put one in that's longer or shorter depending on if your on grass or pavement. Top plate is 3/32 ply with a slot in it. Under it is another 1/16 ply plate with tee nuts. I did put a short piece of hardwood approx. 3/8 in. high with a hole in it to accept the vertical part of the gear. It's all held together with 30 min. epoxy. Note that the slot is not straight. It points to the inside of the circle ergo pointing the nose out slightly as it rolls. I used .078 dia piano wire....OH,  the big balsa sheet, I just stuck it in as a back drop for the picture.

Here I thought that was your new stab.  Just kidding, I like the simple tail wheel set up.  That is a feature on my Dragon per kit.   DOC Holliday

Yeah Doc,
You know how it is, everytime you want to do something you forget where and how you last saw it. So I thought it might be helpful to show it again for those that are in the need. I know the pictures that Sparky has shown have been a big help to many of us. Just my little addition to an already good forum. I try to crop the pictures so you won't see the messy workshop. GRINS

Friend of mine built a Magnum I beamer.  I saw the original Magnum fly with a 4-stroke, and I think a 4-stroke is shown on the box picture.  Don't think the 4-stroke lasted to long as they were not well understood at the time. Mike had a problem with inconsistent run times.
