Title: Replacing motor mounts.

 Howdy folks,

 I'm currently leaning towards "bashing" an ARF Nobler as a next project. I'm thinking of doing a P-40 Tomahawk type thing with it. I really don't like the crappy wood that they have in it for the engine mount beams. Does anyone have any tips on removing them cleanly without butchering things like the firewall up too badly?

yep - drill a 1/8" holes in the front of the bearer (or large enough to get a screwdriver through) - heat the bearer glue with a heat gun and then "twist" the bearer off using the screwdriver through the hole in the front of the bearer.

with enough heat it will let go - if the bearer breaks -/splits - heat and use a wood chisel to lift it from the ply doubler thr glue in the ARFs is pretty weak - and the heat will make it let go

I gave my ARF Nobler to Dave Gardner.  That solved the problem.

  I cut the soft mounts off at the front fire wall, then doubled the front fire wall and used an R/C moubt bolted to the front fire wall.  Works very well... y1
