Title: Removable gear for an I beam wing.
Post by: Pat on March 08, 2013, 09:38:35 PM
Some folks have recomended putting a removable gear on the next I beam wing I build. Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this? If I put a gear block on the spar (I beam) won't that interfear with the placement of the ribs and half ribs?

Pat,
See the pictures of my Collussus.  It has removable gear.

The gear blocks are epoxied to the I-beam and encased in 3/16 balsa with a removable top that holds the gear in place (balsa over plywood) by means of 4 4-40 cap screws into blind nuts on the back side of the gear blocks.
The ribs are then simply glued to the balsa part of the gear blocks.
