Reinforcing wing mounted gear
« on: June 03, 2018, 09:49:49 AM »
Just wondering what is the best building method to insure a strong, wobble free wing mount for landing gear using the customary hardened wood blocks with the slot milled out down the center.  I actually added a second block on the top of mine where the wire comes through and bushed the hole with brass tubing, but my gear still wobbles.

I fly off of grass, not pavement, so my gear takes a bit of a beating.

I was thinking of removing the brass tube, drilling the holes out larger and possibly bushing them with a piece of CF rod.  I'm hoping that this next fix will be a permanent one.

What's the best way to insure a strong, wobble free wing mount for landing gear?

Thanks

Vince

I like the Rabe style groove retention system combined with Windys Long top wire that goes all the way to the top of the wing against the spar.

I myself have never worried about the wobbly gear flying off grass.  But I have thought of lining the groove with silicone sealant or glue.   H^^
