Title: Randy's Wheel Pants and Carbon Gear
Post by: James Mills on March 30, 2014, 10:58:42 PM
How do you guys mount wheel pants to carbon gear?  I have a set of Randy's carbon wheel pants and gear that is going on my new plane.

Thanks,

James

I epoxied 1/16 pieces of plywood to each side of the wheel pant and screwed/epoxied SIG 1/8 wheel pant mounts on each side, which use a 440 allen head to tighten against the axel.  I used Maxx light weight wheels which then fit perfectly between the mounts with no wobble.

James,

Here is a follow up photo to go with my explanation I posted yesterday of the CF wheel pant along with a blurry photo of an 1/8 inch axel I used on the CF landing gear.  I am sure there are several other methods out there, but this one works for me.  Just be careful drilling holes in the CF, don't use much pressure and let the drill bit do the work.
