Title: PERKY POSTAL PLANS ?
Post by: BrianW517 on March 26, 2011, 11:24:04 PM
???  :o Four years ago, I bought and started construction on my BlackHawk Postal Perky. One thing and a dozen others, got in my way before I could finish the plane.   n~ Now I'm ready to finish the Perky and I can't find the plans.  n1 I already have the wing assembled and covered with Polyspan. I will have the fuselage ready for paint, once I know where to install the motor. I was looking up the "Perky Rules" on the Brodak WEB and found out that the motor HAS TO BE INSTALLED IN THE SAME LOCATION AS INDICATED ON THE Perky Plans? Oh! Oh! HB~> I can't find my Perky Plans any where I usually store, "misplace", normally "loose", things!  ~> What I would like to know is= What is the Perky's fuselage total length from the tail to the tip of the spinner?  D>K What is the Perky's total length from the tail to the base of the spinner?  S?P None of my CL Flying friends are putting any Perky's together or even own the kits!  LL~ Any help out there will get me back into the air for the Postal run off.  H^^

What is the Perky postal contest? Is Nationwide, or worldwide? Would it be possible to have a worldwide postal stunt comp.? Could be fun, with some simple rules drawn up :) Why not start it here? :! Or is it already up and running, and I've missed the boat? ;D

Cheers

What is the Perky postal contest?
I think this is still The Rules:

The Major Point:
Winner is the closest to the average time

Yes, those are the rules, we run the contest every year.  Since the contest is for the average speed there is no need to go out and get a special speed engine, special equipment just use what you have on hand.  WARNING the kit is for a true builder so if you are not into building you might want to reconsider.

The "Perky" is an early model airplane kit, designed at a time, when the carve and sand model airplane kits, were, of low cost, and were very popular.
This Kit, recommends that there is prior model airplane building experience, to complete an attractive, safe and flyable airplane.
After hours of sanding, you'll have captured a beautifully shaped fuselage and the wing of the original "Perky" airplane.
Work slow and accurately, and follow the plan directions, and you'll be happy with the end results. Don't rush the assembly process.  Take your time to fill, and seal, all surfaces, before priming, and painting, and the results will be very pleasing to the eye. Be patient. A simple direct answer to the original question:

Leading edge to back of spinner, 3-3/4"
Leading edge of wing to elevator hinge, 12-1/2"
