Title: Pat Johnston Plans
Post by: Jim Zolbe on March 22, 2019, 11:03:57 AM
Does anyone know the status of Pat Johnston and his plans? I see he hasn't posted here on the forum for some time, nor has he responded to e-mails I sent. I hope he's okay. I know Aero Products offers some of Pat's plans, and I bought some there, but now I'm looking for a few of Pat's plans which aren't on Randy's list. Thanks.

Hello Ty and thanks for your response. Glad to hear Pat is okay. I'm in soggy Nebraska, very much in the lower 48. In particular, I'm looking for these Pat Johnston plans:

#69  Mustang with the *removable* 626 sq.in. wing. As I understand it, it's similar to the one Pat published in Model Aviation, but with a removable wing.
#78  Corsair 561 sq.in.
#139  Corsair 704 sq.in.
#152  Hellcat 566 sq in with polyhedral
#85  Ringmaster +P with a *built-up* wing

I know Pat has posted PDF copies of a few of his other designs here on Stunthangar, and I prefer PDF copies so I can study them easily on the computer and then print them locally when I decide to build. But if you need to make paper copies, of course I'll be glad to pay. And, of course, I want to be sure Pat is compensated as the designer.

Thanks again!

Jim

I got a 626 Mustang kit from Pat early February.

Thanks, Randy. Yes, that's one of the e-mail addresses I tried, but still no luck.

I seem to be in the same situation - looking for the same set of plans (#69 Mustang 626 sq in removable wing). I tried the PM feature here, but no response yet (although it was only earlier today.....should probably give it a few days, no?).

Jim,
Did you ever make contact with Pat?  Are you still looking for a set of plans for the RM +P?  I happen to have one of Pat's RM +P kits w/ plans.  I generally make my copies of plans at Staples.  Don't know if they can create a pdf, but I could check.

Not mentioned, but I built a P-40 from Pat's plans.  It's one of the best flyers I have ever had.

Pat actually did get back to me in regards to the plans mentioned above. I bought a set straight from him along with some laser-cut items he produces. Fast, friendly service.  If you email him, give it a week or so.
