Today I called Randy Smith and told him of my intentions. I am going to build a different plane than planned however the build is the same so follow along.

Photos here are of the plans for my new plane. Kinda like plans on a napkin. I am building a USA 1 look alike just like Randy Powell did with a few changes. First I ordered a new PA.75. It will have Smith-Werwage-Hunt Aerodynamics. The plan form is to build a jet look and have up-dated performance. Numbers are 9.5 nose 18 tail. 61 inch span with 3/4 asymmetry, swept back tips Just like the SV Series. 24% elevator. Geo-Bolt airfoil. I will be using a foam wing however I will show how I do a built up one for the class. (stack sanding) I am also going to mold allot of parts and show how YOU can mold too!

The bench is clear and I am cutting the first wood. So about 3:00 central time look for some photos to show up. I will answer all questions However only look for this build to take a month to complete including finish. If it takes that long I will be amazed!

First photo are my plans. Second shot is truing up the top of the fuse sides and finally the last shot is the sides cut. I will now assemble the crutch and work on bulkheads. Then on to a mold buck for top and bottom blocks.

For the fuse side I tack glue them together and sand to exact shape. That way when you put them in the JIG there is no fumbling around.

More photos. The CF vial is .05 and is sandwiched between the fuse sides and doublers. Use slow set Epoxy and as seen in the second shot heavy weight till its cured.

After doublers are dry, inset the cowl mounting pads as shown.

Next you should have your building board with a center line. Make a mark on all the bulkheads in the center. Line up on center line and add fise sides as shown.

I have decided to carve instead of mold (for speed) I am going to try to have this ready for the NATS. I probably won't fly it but I will bring it if its done.

This where I'm at where are you?

I am as far as I can go until I get an engine on the fuse. So Hopefully I get it at weeks end. I will assemble the wings and stab-ele. Should go quick. Notice the TRICK Brett Buck bell crank?

We are 24 hrs into this project. Any questions?

Looks Good Robert
Should have mine in the fuse jig tonight, if all goes as plan.  taking daughter to airport then back to build.
Robert do you tack glue the fuse sides and bulkheads in the jig blocks or are they just used for pressure to hold everything ?  Also is it easier to glue the stringers in before you mount the bulkheads ?  Or after ?

Glue the stringers to the sides first. Mark bulkhead local and pin in place. Use fuse blocks in jig to hold together. Only pressure holds it together. DO NOT GLUE TO BASE OR JIG BLOCKS.

Update On-Line Class (PHOTO'S)
I was checking the dates and I have been working on this project 12 days. The woodwork is done. The next thing starting tomorrow night will be finish. I will post this process. I will be covering the fuse with CF and the wings with 00 silk span. The elevators will be done in Poly-span. In Flying trim everything including tip weight (less finish) the weight as it sits here is 52 oz. I had hoped for less but this is a big airplane! So the projected weight is 60-62 oz depending on how carried away I get with the clear Urethane. I was contemplating a Blue Angels scheme but I have abandoned that idea for my old squadron colors (checkmates) VF-211. So The top of the plane will be gray and the bottom white. I will try to make an impression of a real fighter however there is no fighter of this configuration.
