Here's what I've been working on waiting for the weather to get good enough to go flying. It's a rubber job by Earl Stahl called the Interstate Cadet. 30" WS. Man the 3/32 sticks are small and the 1/16 square is even smaller!

Many of us who started model building as kids with similar projects have fantasized about building another one. You actually did it! How wonderful. Nice job, too.

I plan on using yellow Esaki tissue. Tissue stripes and number. Ink lines and all. Stay tuned.

Hi, again, Crist!
I started two small rubber powere FF kits several years ago. We have a pretty big FF meet here in May. Unfortunately, when i got them to about the stage yours is, the nephews invaded the basement one Saturday afternoon and there wasn't enough to rebuild when they got through. I haven't tried since then......... I have a WHOLE LOT of plans for Peanut, Walnut, Stahl, etc,. but it sort of discouraged me. The Meet is coming up in about 6 weeks I guess, and I just *might* build something and fly it for my first rubber FF Contest!
Oh yeah, my oldest Son's Easy Built Peanut scale was destroyed in the same "raid". (the nephews [5 of them] were NEVER allowed to go back to the basement again!)
I am sure yours will look great, it already does!

Biil,
Build something that has a square fuselage. Beats cutting out formers. The Interstate is close to that except the nose of course. their are lots of plans floating around. Stick to a square fuse and a "hersey bar" wing and it'll go together fast.

Thanks for the tips, Crist. I have quite a few plans, and a Buddy here who builds on rubber FF who gladly gives out plans, so I will look for something along those lines.
I'm also going to check the Contest Flyer and see what the "Theme" (or special class) is for this year. That might help a lot in my decision! ;D

I didn't know that the Carolinas had any free flight contests so I would love to know where "here" actually is on the map. It could be that other regionally located guys might like to at least be spectators and experience some free flight fun. I started modeling in free flight and I am still drawn to it. Great craftmanship like Crist's airplane still draw my admiration and respect.

There is a Meet in Raeford at one of the Carolina Turf sod fields around the second weekend in May. I will find the email from Don who always comes to our contests in Huntersville. It is pretty big and part of a contest that takes place over two days. The other day is in Goldsboro at Dave Rees's place, I *think*.

I too have one on the building board that has bunches of little sticks. Most are 3/32" some are 1/16" sq.

Hey, that would be great! Must be neat to have someone like him around. All I have to do is sand the wing and detail sand the fuselage, then on to covering. The weather is getting better so I'm doing more C/L flying and spending less time in the shop. #^
