Ted
Good looking bird!  Got some specs on it?

If you can - try shrinking the pix to 600 x 800 before you upload - they seem to open up a lot better that way...

  Dennis,

Thanks for the reply. As for the picture size, I just bought a new Kodak V-705 pocket point and
shoot. Even at 1.1 or 3.1 meg pix, I can barley get two pix to post. I'm going to ask Sparky
about that.
As for the plane, it has a GEO-bolt wing. The rest is my own idea. Stock tiger 60 with Zinger
12.5/5 prop. It weighs 46.7 oz. Finish is K&B Super Poxy paint. It flyes well. I just need a bunch
of handle time. Wing, stab & elevater are heavy silk.

I'm with Ralph - that engine will last a LONG time not working any harder than THAT!  Good wing to base the design on too - good designs just "look" right!

I have Kodak also.  I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to manually "resize" the pix to the 600 x 800 size...

    Hi Ralph,

No secret to building light. The hobby shop owner said I could weigh the wood, so I bought a
postage scale good to 70oz. After that its up to me to put the right wood in the right place and
use lightening holes if practical. We have to be careful with the glue and finish at that point.

       Hello proparc,

You are almost right. It weighs 46.7oz with a ST- 60.

       Dennis,

After reading your camera info I got the idea of takeing a smaller picture to see if the
picture size would get smaller and it did. I'm going to try a sample post to see if the pictures are
good gnough to post.
       Thanks,

Ted,
With Super Poxy over heavy silk on the wing and tail, what kind of dope and how much did you use to shink and fill the silk while maintaining that incredibly light weight?  Thanks, Kim

       Kim,

The silk is heavy gas model silk. Three coats of Sig was thinned 40 to 50 % and brushed
on the frame left to dry over nite, then lightly sanded with 320 grit. The silk was then
sprayed unfolded on a glass sheet with a spuitz bottle. Take the sillk and lay it over
the section you want to cover. While you are pulling out the wrinkles or waves in the
silk, lightly re-apply more water spray to keep things damp, not dripping wet. take about  1/2 inch wide brush and dope through the silk on the outer edjes of the Part you want to
cover making shure to keep the silk smooth as you go along. As you apply the dope keep
a paper towel at your side to wipe the excess dope off. This helps keep things light. Dont
keep silk to tight, just smooth, no wrinkles or waved between the bays. Next day, take
Sig regular dope (not light coat) full strength with flexible 11/4 in wide brush. Load it up
and drag the brush over the silk with very light pressure. You want mainly to lay on top
and hardly go throuth. Let it dry until it is about gassed off or 24 hrs.
Second coat do the same thing but thin dope 40%. Same time frame to dry.
Third and last coat is same procedure but thin dope 50% and press down on bresh a
little harder to fill any pin holes that are left. Let it gass off for a week. At that point
its time to sand it very lightly with 400 grit paper just enough to take roughness off.
Be careful to stay away from the ribs and cap strips.
At this point, if your using epoxy your ready to spray. For spraying epoxy I thin it
about 50 to 60 % and keep the gun moving. let the epoxy cure for 48 hours. Add trim
if you like. Epoxy can be rubbed out like dope. I hope this boreing disertation helps you.
