I posted a video on youtube of how I do monokote hinges.this was a real exercise in patience, both my phone and YouTube were not cooperating! when it finally loaded, it took almost 4 hours to upload a 19 minute video. so I really hope someone find this useful! haha

I have been using monocoat hinges for years, but I have sure learned a few things from watching you. I had no idea that there was a product like the monocoat solvent that sort of glues two differing colors together. That is going to make my life a little easier! One thing I do that may make it a bit easier is, I cover the parts first then apply the hinges. Yes the hinges are then more visible and some will say that they will come off because they are not protected, but I have never had a failure and the planes I fly, it doesn't matter that you see them! LOL
Anyways, excellent video and I will be waiting to see your other ones. Do one on how you do different colors together for a wing or whatever. H^^

thanks guys.
Doc, i started using the technique you mentioned on all of my half a models.
Glen, I have a project that I was wanting to finish. how about I do a solid color wing with a clear window insert in the center of the panel? and I'll use the method with the trim solvent to make one sheet and then apply it on to the wing.

That would be perfect Dane. The method you use sounds wayyyyy easier than mine did.

"Great" Dane,
On your bench, I count 18 pieces of material that are hinges.
I have issues with applying just four Klett hinges. Like I'm having at the moment. HB~>
I gotta ask.
Did you read a book on applying covering material? There is a book.
Is that how you learned?
Looking really good!! H^^

I'm probably not as smart as most guys give me credit for! I learned a lot when I was a kid and my dad was paying for the Monokote. a lot of what I learned was just by wasting money. by the time I learned what I was doing I did find books and videos. I would like to think that that is when I really learned how to do things properly.
by the way here's a teaser photo for Glenn. this is one wing panel sheet ready to apply to a wing.
