Well I finally got started on another project. Hope to have it ready for VSC and 2011. First is making a template, actually two. Then the balsa blanks and bolting to gether for sanding. Last shot is after sanding. Will do spar locations after wing is partially framed up. H^^
Well I got two of the pictures out of order. Hope you can tell the blanks from the ones that are sanded. jeh

There's something really satisfying about having a nice pile of ribs all ready to go, isn't there?
I had a conversation with one of the other (few) builders in our club. I always build the wing first, because it puts me in far enough that I can't back out when it comes time to do tail feathers & fuse & whatnot. He always does the tail first, because it eases him into the project.
To each their own -- I find a neglected wing hanging on the wall behind my building board to be a huge incentive to get with the program!

Hi Doc,
Great looking set of ribs! y1 That King Sweep is going to be interesting. y1
Do you use sharpened brass (or other metal tubing) to make you lead out holes, etc., ??
One thing I have done is to start using 3/8th" bolts to hold my templates since I use 3/8ths tubes for my jig.

Those are the bolt holes. Once wing is framed it will get lead out holes located. H^^

Hi Doc,
I was asking what do you *use* to *make* the lead out holes? ;D
Knife, Saws All, chain saw, axe? LL~

Yes, those are very nice hole. Much better than mine. I am also waiting for an answer.

Keep up the good work Doc. The King Sweep is an interesting project.
I have a great Stihl chainsaw that will do the spar cuts and leadout slots real fast.

Please keep us posted as you progress on the build Doc. y1

Usually I have a big peice of sharpened brass tubing I cut leadout holes with. Removing waste wood is done with tubing and sand paper. Will get pic up on the build. Sure glad I had the experience of building Walters version of the Sweet Sweep. This is the center section.
