I am building a semi scale Bf 109. first version is a profile (for p40 events) and to prove out the aero dimensions. next will be a built up version of the 109. both in drawing stages now. the profile is ready to build , still working out some details on the buillt up

First to get done here will be the Skyray (see "Skyray my way" on this forum) and I've got the 2 or 3 other designs in the planning stages. The next project, that will get started soon, will be a Saito .30 powered Warbird twin, you'll never guess what though.

Hello Richard!
The wing span is 54" and it is my own design but highly inspiration by Jeff Kemp Gee Bee model Z design (flat fuse).

Very nice workmanship, and a very interesting design. I saw Jeff Kemp's profile R1/2 fly at Brodaks a couple of years ago, and it was an outstanding sight in the air. I'm sitting on a set of plans.

I will follow your fuselage design with interest. Do you plan a full circular cross section, or the oval cross section (what you call flat fuse) like Jeff did on the "Z" version?

Your wood looks so uniform in color it's as though you bleached it all ! <g>

I concur on replacing the clevis with the well proven Rocket City #87 ball links. It's just not worth taking the chance.

Here's mine. It's been a good Saturday. Put 3 coats of Nitrate on structure and covered the wing top and bottom and tips with silkspan and Butyrate. Things are coming together at 35 ounces as you see it, I think this is about average, this includes engine, spinner, landing gear and flaps. I estimate finished it will be around 46 oz. you think ?? All components with silkspan and clear.....ENJOY !! ..........OK I showed you mine now let us see yours...Grins

Hello guys-
Thanks for all nice words and reprimands.
Fuselage: J plan the oval cross section like Jeff's "Z" version. I want to use more rigid surfaces on the fuse than the Jeff. To safe catch.
For power: my old Super Tigre 51 or my new and unidentifed MVVS 8,0ccm.
Engine will be arranged head aside.

Hi Steve,

Not sure, but I'm guessing under 50 oz. Someone here will know. I am only going by the "size" of the plane. I would probably (personally) want it in the low-mid 40s.

Here is a plane I threw together this spring to get back flying. I used it most of the summer with out crashing. It was covered with plastic covering that started to peel off so I just tore it all off and painted the fuse with Rustolium and monocoate on the wings. The wing tips and tail was originally covered with monocote and it wouldn't come off so it stayed chrome. It was ugly before now I'll certainly crash it. I really believe that ugly planes never crash and pretty ones get sucked up by the ground.

Mine is a lot simpler - two scratch built Flite Streaks. But, I haven't done this for many years so it is some kind of achievement. Will post a photo when I get the first one done. The wing is about ready to assemble.

Two projects in the works. A G' Nobler in prime almost ready for color. Doing the cockpit and pilot now. LG and pants ready. All in prime, will get a white blocking coat, final in yellow with Red Gieseke check marks on top and lite blue check marks on the bottom. Will be powered by the obvious Aero Tiger. While you are here, check out the pilot. Anyone recognize him?

Second, is a kit bashed Randy Dreadnought to resemble a Bob Hunt Crossfire! This has been hanging on the wall for at least five years fully painted and ink lined, no clear. This is the one that I stuck my hand into the PA .61 at ten grand! The Bolly won! Guess it had me spooked all that time, but it's time to finish it even though I've grown fond of smaller airplanes.

Got on a 1/2A kick this fall. 5 planes in 6 weeks. Ansaldo SVA-5, see in Scale Section. Baby Barnstormer with a WenMac .049 and APC 6x2 prop. Built 2 All American (Jr.) with COX .049 and APC 6x2 prop, one for me and one for Jack Sheeks. Then built a 290 Special designed by Dale Kirn with McCoy .049 to use as a trainer for the grandkids.
I had to add 1.5 oz of lead to the nose to balance my AA and 1 oz to Jacks to balance. Have designed new side panels that will let the AA balance without added weight by lengthening the nose 1 1/2 inches and moving the engine, fuel tank and landing gear forward.

[img]Here is my modified Magnum.I still have lot's of trim to finish on the wing ect but it is coming along slowly.I added depth to the fuse for more side areaand to inclose the pipe.I changed the vertical fine shape plus made full span flaps and fuse gear.I also carved a canopy to replace the plastic one.Power is a RO61 BSRE.The wings and stab are monocote,the fuse ect was done in dope and tissue then sprayed in Klasskote.There is no clear on as the trimming has to be finished.More photos later if it turns out

As you see I have added 2 more photos to the bottom.I made a new cowl as I did not like the first one after paint.I also got some trim done and the removable flaps and elevators mounted up. Dennis

No pics yet, but construction starts today on a 62" span semi-scale Warbird profile twin with Saito .30's. Hint, it's not a Don Hutchinson design, although his new P-38 would be a good one. The design is my own, with a rib set I just had done by Tank's Hangar. This is gonna be fun!
