I'm running out of leather fillets. Ms. Sawyer is now out of touch. I tried to find Walter Umland, but no success.
Anyone know of a source?

Are there benefits to leather fillets?

Someone needs to be willing to order it 100' at a time, but -- here you go http://www.freemansupply.com/FreemanLeatherFill.htm (http://www.freemansupply.com/FreemanLeatherFill.htm)

$121 for 100 feet of 1/4" radius, $161 for 100 feet of 3/8" radius.
I'm tempted to buy 100 feet of each and sell it for $2.40 or $3.20/foot, depending -- that should be enough to make back my money and deal with returns and all the rest of that folderol.

Hey Tim. You really DON'T want to get into the model plane "cottage industry" business. I did that for 25 years until I got really tired of people calling at all hours asking long complicated questions about using my products and listening to their "war" stories. It's impossible to convey anything by phone unless it's very simple.

Hi Floyd, I am still here, Just looked and seems I never got any private messages from you.
It's okay I sent you a p.m. on the fillets.
Good luck

So can you explain a little more about using leather fillets to those of us whom have no clue about them ???

I second that request.
And thanks.

OK. Much has been posted about leather fillets. A search should bring lots of responses.
In short, the leather is supplied in triangular form, just right for fillets. They have been used by patternmakers to construct forms for making cast parts.
I first wet the leather, then glue them in place using Ambroid or SIG cement. While still wet, I burnish them with a round tool to make them concave.
That's all there is. They take dope and paint without any problems.
I find them much easier than messing with epoxy fillets.
