HI Ray,
I always heat the brass tubing with a little butane torch I got from Radio Shack. Always worked fine for me. ;D Never used the 1/16th copper. And the 1/8th" O.D. K&S copper bends real easy once I put the Weed Eater line inside it.. I heat the brass to use for fuel filler/vents on built ups and use the Weed Eater line to keep it from kinking.

I just run the leadout wire through 1/16 brass tubing and then wrap it around a suitable sized drill bit, feed it through the bellcrank and then close up the ends and wrap about 1 inch of the leadout pair with copper wire. This avoids softening the brass tubing.

I have a pictoral on here called, "Leadouts My Way". Do a search for "leadouts". I use the swagging method of doing the ends, but wrapping with copper wire can be done as the tubing holds the cable in place better.
