Title: Leading edge sheeting

I am getting ready to sheet the leading edge of my RSM Crusader. The plans call for extending the sheeting on to the wing tips. There is a gusset on the tips in line with the spar. Any tips on how to do this would help.  Thanks

You saying that you put the tips and gusets on before sheeting the leading?  If so you may have to sand down the gussets to clear the sheeting.   DOC Holliday

In order to have the sheeting cover the front part of the tip the tip and gusset have to be in place, you are covering them.

Without pulling the kit off the shelf, I would say you are probably going to have to wet the sheeting on the outside surface to get it to conform to the curves.  Another way of doing it, and it works.  Mark the sheeting where it will contact the ribs, spar and leading edge peice.  Good old Elmers Glue to the rescue.  Put a layer of glue on both surfaces, not too thick.  Let dry.  Then take an iron and put the wood down like you would monokote.  You only get one chance at it tho like using CA.  Let us know how you do it.   Masking tape helps hold things in place while doing this, unless you have extra hands.  DOC Holliday

Through the help of Jeff W I attached the sheeting up to the last rib. Then I pretty much soaked the end of the sheeting with amonia window cleaner. I carefully bent the bulsa down and taped as best I could to form it. After it dryed I re wet the outside till plyable then C/A'ed in place and sanded. It is a pain but the results are really nice. I didn't do a perfect job but for the first time it ain't bad. Jeff used an old foam wing to form his on , but since I didn't have one I went with this. I did use very soft 1/16 sheeting which helped the proceedure.

Leester, did you do both the top and bottom at the same time?  Also if I send you my kit would you build it for me?  DOC Holliday

 I did the bottum then the top not at the same time.Sure send me the kit, it might come out looking alot like a ARF Flite Streak though.
