Title: Laser cut parts

Maybe this has been mentioned before but I have learned that glue joints on laser cut parts are stronger if the char (carbon) is removed from the glue surfaces of parts prior to applying CA or whatever adhesive is used.  A few passes with some 200 grit sandpaper does the job.  Like parts can be taped together and sanded all at once. 

I've tried it both ways and found that  joints with charred surfaces fail more often than those where no char is present.

I'm relatively new to building and probably most experienced builders already know this.  I guess laser cutting of model airplane kits is a fairly new technique so maybe it's new territory for a good many of us?

Hi Joe,

So far, I have not had a problem with the edges, but I get all my laser cut parts from Tank's HAnger.  Maybe his laser isn't as "hot"??

What kind of glue are you using?

Thanks for your observation, there might be a dfiierence in different cutters. ???
