Klean Strip Auto Paint Thinner
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:04:38 PM »
Hi guys,

Has anyone tried the brand klean strip auto paint thinner? I bought some the other day and tried it on a test bed. Dope sprayed on nice and wet, didn't clog up my spray gun, dried slow, nice gloss. Seems to be okay to use. I just wanted to get some input from the group. I hate to spray the plane and then which something weird happen to it. I would appreciate any input and thank you, Gary

GAry,

You pays your money and takes your chances. The safe way is to use the thinner formulated for the paint you are using. You know that will work. If you deviate from that, it may work fabulously (I think Randy Ryan uses thinner from the local hardware store of something), or you could create a problem for yourself. Hey, you did the right thing and did a test panel. I would expect that as long as you use whatever brand of dope you used for that test panel, it will probably
be fine. Probably.

Like I said, you pays your money....

I tried Brodak thinner with Sig supercoat colored dope when I resurected my Apollo Ibeamer last year. Flowed nicely, leveled well and glossed. So far, so good.  :!                  Rainman
