I have an RC plane from 3DHS , the latch they use for the battery radio cover is stellar.
it is available seperatly from them, check here

Vincent,
Recall the motor itself is one whacking big piece of rotating rare earth magnets, so I wouldn't be too worried! Anyway magnets are what I use for both my Nobler and Vector electric ships.

Where can you get those earth magnets?  Do the "big box" stores carry them?
  Suggestions sure would be 'ppreciated...

I "googled"  'rare earth magnets' and there were several suppliers.  Here is one of the many.

The disk magnets are pretty far down the page.

I have used 3/8" 1/16 x 1/10" in my application. That is what I had available. The prices look pretty cheap, but I didn't check the S&H.

I wonder if a place like Hobby Lobby (not the hobby shop--but the craft store) might have them.

I'm using magnets to hold the hatch on my electric model.  I found the magnets at Radio Shack.  They arent the cheapest place to get them i'm sure, but they are handy if you are in a hurry.  I think I paid 1.99 for a package of 2.

Try www.kjmagnetics.com

That's where I get all of mine. Check out the surplus ones. There are several useful sizes, and the prices are decent too.
