Title: Gluing dacron and or tafetta hinges
Post by: Allen Eshleman on May 23, 2024, 07:57:42 AM
I am not fond of dope finishes.  I use monokote but would like to use dacron or tafetta hinges.  I have some dacron hinges from Tom Morris. What glue has worked for you?  Can you then put monokote over it?

Hi Allen.
I’m not sure what glue would be best but getting the monokote to stick to it is easy.
Get hold of some Sig Stix It and brush it over the glued hinges then iron on the covering as usual.
This also works great on fibreglassed surfaces.
(Back when we just used ambroid or equivalent and it seemed to work okay, or maybe we just thought it did since that’s all we knew about.)
