What do you use as a spacer between the Horiz. stab. and the elevat. when glueing cloth hinges to them?

Nothing, they should be touching. That way there's no gap

I've heard about using tape for this hinge but I thought it was a special type of tape. Who would have thought plain old Scotch tape would work. Thanks.

I think this is from Windy: Fold 2 pieces of 320 sandpaper double
and put at each end of the stab and gently push together. For flaps
4 pieces doubled. I just saw the request was for cloth hinges. This
is for nylon barrel hinges.

The cloth hinges are the spacer.  As hard as I try, I still have little play between the surfaces.
