Hi
Hi
Cutting foam core/balsa veneered wings for 50-60” sized stunt model.
What density foam would be the accepted norm?
I can get hold of 4” 0.9 to 1.1Ib virgin white.
Its what id use on an RC aerobatic model but womdering if any differences to think about for CL stunt.
Cheers

1 lb is the standard.

Hi
Thanks Brett, thought it was worth checking before i make a round trip to pick it up.
I think i might have confused myself as i seem to remember a BobHunt video calling out 5Ib but that may have been for Lost Foam construction. My wifes ‘hidden’ my video collection when she tidied a bunch of stuff up.
Cheers

I haven't seen that but 1 lb can be used for jigs, but it's really too soft, and 5 lb seems perfectly appropriate. I make jigs from blue foam. Make sure you get "virgin" foam instead of "regrind", the "regrind" has chopped up recycled foam and a bunch of hard spots.

Mike,
Sounds great. Are you going to make cores available for purchase? Will you be doing fully cored out sets? You might want to contact Bob Hunt, he can give you lots of info on doing stunt wing cores.

I think you are remembering this correctly. Maybe just drop Bob a message to be sure. I read pretty much everything he's written, several times, and I think this is correct.
Type at you later,
