Post by: Rob Killick on January 30, 2009, 03:50:09 PM
Hi ,

I'm having a hard time trying to find 3/16" thick bass wood in my area and was wondering if I can substitute another type of dense wood for bass wood ?

Thanks ,

Hi ,

Look on the home page of this site and look under building tips , then click on the "Flap horn" , in the list of tips.

1/4" thick basswood?  It carves very easily.    I use maple motor mount stock cut/sanded down to match.

Hi Fellas ,

I bit the bullet and bought a quantity of clips from Brodak's .
My favourite Canadian ,web store only had bags of scrap bass wood , so I figured not to purchase .
I think I'm in the clear getting them precut from Brodak's .

Thanks for thehelp .
