Controll lines
« on: August 29, 2007, 06:52:55 AM »
H^^blank to all the pilots, in order to complete my airplane topflite Flite Streak ARF I had need of cables.
I have bought these: .018x2x70' braided stell control line (by Brodak)
On the model I have mounted Supertigre G34 (than thanks to You all now the needle valve is OK)
Is too much large like cables? or they are OK?
Soon you will have my photo

Bellantonio,
I would say that .018 x 70' lines are too big and too draggy and too long for a Flight Streak and your engine to fly at a normal Stunt speed. I flew a Flight Streak on .015 x 60' - 63' long lines and it worked well.

If you wanted to use the Flight Streak for high speed Combat then .018x 60'
or whatever the length is required for Combat might be a better choice.

Hello Bellantonio,

I would suggest .015 x 60 ft. for the G34/Flite Streak.  The .015x60 can also be used on .40 size engines.  You could begin with the .015 diameter lines at 65 ft. long and shorten if needed.

Seventy feet is too long and .018 diameter is not needed nor desired for the G34.  The .018x70 can be used to make lines for larger engines---like the OS LA 46 or ST G51 or ST 60.  Even then, 65 feet should be long enough.

Cheers,
Jim

So it appears that you could just shorten the lines that you have and go fly.  That would be better than spending money and waiting for new lines to arrive.  I would rather fly than wait, myself.  Good luck to you.

You can go smaller diameter but the cables you bought will be OK! Make sure to cut un poco piccolo pił corto to 60'. Potete tagliare il legare pił corto

What Steven said! ;D  Even as short as 57'-58' on the .018s.
