Title: Fillet making tool
Post by: Geoff Goodworth on August 13, 2015, 01:46:11 AM
Hi folks, I found this gadget at a craft show today. It's called a Large Ball Embossing Tool. From Tonic Studios, they list locations in the US (Middleton, WI 53562) and the UK and www.tonic-studios.co.uk.

The ball diameters are 12mm and 8mm so I reckon they will be just about right for wing and tailplane fillets.

I think it's such a great idea, Geoff, I've been researching it for about an hour. It's not available for shipping from the US and shipped from the UK costs about $25. That gets you the one tool.
So, looking at the same type tools in the US, and doing a bit of research on quality, I came up with this alternative for about $26 shipped:

https://www.expressions-ltd.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CAULKING%2DBALL%2DTOOL&CartID=1

This gets you 8 different sizes. What got me going on it is that I've wanted something like this for better results on caulking and grouting.

I've been using an old mouse ball drilled with a handle. But these are slick.

They look far too pretty to end up covered in bog!

I ordered a set of these. Thanks for the tip and link, Bill!
