Flap Hinges
« on: February 06, 2009, 09:59:50 AM »
I know this was discussed not long ago, but i can't find it, guess it was lost in the crash. Brett Buck talked briefly about he attached his flaps with wire and hardware. If he posted pictures, can some tell me what it looked like or where here to look? Thanks in advance. Ron y1

I am not sure what the question is exactly. I use standard Klett hinges, in a conventional manner, with one modification - I remove all the hinge pins, and replace them with one continuous wire. Then hold the wire in the airplane with a slot and tape. That's so I can remove the flaps entirely if needed, and for finishing.  OF course, you have to leave the control horn as a slip-fit in the flaps, you can't glue them. I have used the feature several times and had I used the regular short pins, I would have had to cut them out.

And I would hasten to add that I certainly didn't think of it first - I am ripping off Paul Walker's method.
