Does anybody make and sell accurate Drill jigs to drill straight holes in 1/8,3/16 or 1/4 material for flaps and elevators?
I could draw a tool to do it but I do not have access to a machine shop ?

Dubro makes such a thing. Not very expensive and works pretty well..

You can easily make jigs. I use aircraft ply with a maple center core. Drill the flap before shaping it. Hope this helps.

Hey Dennis, Your wood Jigs look just like I was trhinking of only I was thinking aluminum. Might have to try doing wood myself.

It wouldn't hurt to make the jig out of wood and then install a hardened drill bushing of the size you want. I happen to think it's easier to put in an RSM "Lucky Box", 'cause I want my flaps removeable anyway. :D Steve

Hi Jim,
I also make Lucky Boxes, As Steve mentioned they're much easier to install.
make a few cuts and no more drilling

I like to go for the simple solutions that use stuff I have hanging around the shop. Basically I just pin the flap or elevator to a piece of 2x4 resting on the "2" side (this needs to sit up straight when flipped) as it sits on a flat surface. Then I flip it over and drill the hole at the point where I have already marked the centerline of the wood and the position of the hole. So far, so good and convenient. The only down side is that it only works for the straight trailing edges.
