Does anyone have a vendor for machined carbon fiber parts?
« on: August 24, 2021, 03:47:03 PM »
I'm looking for someone to whack me out some CF frames for handles.  I have a drawing and everything.

Looking to see if anyone knows anyone who does a good no-muss, no-fuss job with this.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Half a dozen, unless someone sees my handles and wants some.

They can be whacked out of the plate with a coping saw and a hack saw, but you use up one blade per saw per handle, and then you have to sand on it to make it pretty.

I know of three alternatives: 1) https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Sawblade-Grit-Single-Pack/dp/B0058EDVAO/ref=trb_chk_auth?, B) sent me the material and I'll use my blade, or iii) have ACP Composites waterjet it for you.  The first two options require you to sand it to make it pretty.

I'd allow for wider line spacing.

How much wider?  These handles have worked very well for me, and never on the outer holes.  But I tend to need a slower control response than normal people (to the point where someone to whom I loaned a plane pancaked it because I neglected to move the lines out a couple of holes).

Nice layout, any chance you have an adjustable line length design?

I assume you mean a cable handle or other adjustable handle.  Basically -- no.  Given that I can feel the difference between a 25g handle and an 18g handle, I don't want anything on the handle that might make it heavier.  Simple = light weight, so I use that style handle and I carry a variety of line clips, as well as a Derick Moran-style line clip bender that'll make me any length clip from 1" to 2".
