Hi I'm building a new E-plane around a Twister wing and I want to build a recess into wing for the battery which of course means cutting into the leading edge, anyone have an idea how to do this without compromising strength? Pics would help greatly.
Thanks
Dwayne

Should not be a problem, the spar and sheeting can handle the load. I have seen this done sucessfully on IC planes also. Just make sure those comonents are good wood and have tight joints. If spar is spliced make it a longer taper like 6:1 ratio.

Thanks Allen I'm also going to glass the center section as well just to be safe.

When you make the box that the battery fits into, That will replace much of the integrity of the missing LE wood. Glassing is always good to.
