Title: Control Surface Gap Sealing Tape
Post by: Colin McRae on August 29, 2022, 08:32:51 AM
I have seen 1" wide clear tape used to seal the longitudinal wing/flap and elevator/stabilizer gaps. What product is normally used? Dubro makes a 1" wide hinge tape. Is this what can be used or is there a better product out there. Not worried about cost, just what is recommended to be used.

Thanks in advance.

The tape you mention in your post will work. Lots of different clear tapes out there. There is a clear tape I get at the dollar store, 6 decent sized rolls on a card and it works very well. An aggressive enough adhesive to lay down and stick well to a clean surface, but will not pull up finish when it needs replacing, and they all will need replacing at some time. Just get what you have put down nice and smooth and enjoy a better flying model.
  Type at you later,

Hi Colin,

I use 2" clear packing tape. I lay a strip of tape on my glass tabletop and cut to the desired width. To remove apply just a little heat and remove.
