Looking for models that dissassemble?
« on: March 11, 2009, 02:32:29 AM »
I've been looking but haven't seen much that I can get a decent idea of what all it entails. Could you all point me towards some liinks and photos of models that come apart after use. Removable wings aznd such. Living in a rv doesn't allow me a lot of room. So I may consider doing smaller models as well as being able to brreak the down a bit.

Have a look at this ship by Claus, its a good looker and is a 48" ws.  I printed it up in my printers "Multipage Poster" program.  Most all printers have a similar program.  I printed it on the 4x4 pages size and it came out at 45"ws.  Thats perfect for me as I like smaller models.  The plans do not have a lot of detail, but if you study them long enough, things start to make good sense and I'm sure that Claus would be more than willing to help. I know there have been pictorials on planes that the wings pulled off (leaving the fuse in one piece) on Stunthanger, but I've never seen a plan or drawing for this. That would be nice.

there are a lot of plans available that show take apart features - mostly with the main wing removable in one piece.  this is pretty easy to achieve...  if you want to take the wings off in two halves - then you will need a wing joiner - see the attached

Plans I am referring to for take apart features (off the top of my head) Paul Walker Impact. Cobra 60, a LOT of Pat Johnstons plans etc -

if you would like copies - let me know

All my planes disassemble real easy--it's the re-assembling step that takes so long!
