Title: Color of original Carl Goldberg Buster
Post by: Phil Goldberg on June 23, 2017, 09:16:49 AM
I would to know the closest red color, Brodak, Sig or whatever to the color of the original Carl Goldberg Buster Kit shown on the box.  Thanks

It's pretty much impossible to really judge or compare box art colors to actual paint colors accurately. I'd also suppose that depending how much one wants to "nit pick", the box art coloring itself could even vary slightly, depending on printing batches, age, and many other variables. In this case though I think you would be very happy going with Brodak Miss Ashley Red. If you want it a little brighter go with the Madrid Red.

Thanks for the help.  Sure it is true that a color can not be judged by the pic on the box.  I just want a bright red but nothing that looks neon or plastic.

Depends on the lighting , and undercoat . Silver for final primer / undercoats lightest cover for a even topcoat .

You can see that red , or if a Ferrari ' Scarlet ' / blood red usually , depending if its faded .  S?P

Id think in your case GOLDBERG Red dope would be correct . Ive actually got a spray can of it, got it & two of silver , 1 I used on the P 51 Fuselage .
The Goldberg red is a rich deep red . Tho theve aged so need a little shaking , and take forever to harden . A few weeks in the sun would do it .

Steve Wittman on his Harley , it says ( The Buster Designer/ Builder . )

Ive got a pile of red duplicolour cans , from the past their use by date from Repco . Need a good shake & sit in hot water . Still inclined to be carefull
as a exploding red can of dope could get intresting . So the buckets out on the lawn as a rule .  LL~ S?P
