I am continuing work on building an Akromaster.  I decided to make it a flapped stunter.  The flaps are thin and putting in nylon hinges will be quite a challenge.  I would like to use cloth hinges.  I only have a little bit of cloth left over from other builds.  Is there a good material that can be purchased without ordering from a hobby store which will take time?  If so, what would it be?  What kinds of stores can it be found it?

Can CA glue be used to fasten it?  What about dopes butyrate Dope?   What about making it look nice.  I plan to put Kolar Kote over it.

I get linen from the fabric stop and use glue as stickum. After predoping the wood, water serves as a temporay adhesive, followed by thin dope.  I've found that the water makes the cloth lay down well.   Also, if you iron the cloth with spray starch it's a lot easier to cut accurately.

Whatever you do don't use the CA material as such for hinges.   It might work for RC, but for CL it is too stiff.   As stated go to your local fabric store,  Yes men do shop in fabric stores as they have pins, scissors and other stuff we can use.   Cut the material in strips.   Dope both surfaces that are to be hinged.   About three or so coats of dope or when it gets a slight sheen to the surface.   Lay hinge in place and brush on a coat of dope thinned down to consistency of water.    And yes iron on coverings will go over the hinges, don't use too much heat over them.

for cloth hinges, don't use ca.  Dope works.  But for me a heat sensitive glue like balsarite is the best.  Spread the glue, let it dry, and iron the hinges down. perfect every time

I have had bad luck with monokote hinges no matter how careful I am.  On small planes I uses sewn hinges when I use monokote.
