I couldn't save the mold this time but I'll be darned I just made my first carbon gear, still needs a bunch of trim/sanding but I can't believe how good it turned out, if I can do this anyone can.  y1 #^

Doug,
Really nice work. What resin did you use? I think if you made the mold from pine and finished it with epoxy it will hold up for several sets. You could even use Bondo mixed with about 30% polyester resin and it will hold up for several sets (I did props like this for quick cheap mold).

Why not use parchment paper on the mold?   The gear looks good. D>K

Thanks guys, Doug I'm using Z-Poxy finishing resin, I will be making one more set for another plane with no plans to make anymore so I don't think it's worth the effort but I will keep it in mind if I decide to make more.
John. Never thought of parchment, I'll give it a try.

Dwayne,
Let us know how the Z-Poxy holds up. That is a easy to get resin and not as toxic as the EPON.
