Title: CANOPY MOUNTING
Post by: Jack Mulinix on April 02, 2010, 09:59:03 PM
Just went through 22 pages and read the building tip section and just don't get it. Am getting to the point of needing to mount a canopy on a sig mustang. Used balsa for the turtledeck and all silkspanned w/ nitrate. Do I need to cut silkspan from mounting area and can epoxy be used or only ca for glueing down. thanks

Right  Pacer 560  or  RC 56  will work well  use a small amount, after it is dry  mask off the canopy, then use a piece of 360 sandpaper  to scuff up the  edge at about 1\8 to 3\16 inch, I then use a smal filet   of  SIG micro ballons to make the fair-in really nice, you can then sand and paint the area, if you are careful you can spray the clear after all of your colors over that are and the entire canopy and wet san it in with 800 paper, you will not be able to see or feel where the clear stops and the painted part begins  as  far as  a  bump there goes
