Big hint when building with tubes/rods.

I'm sure you do this, but I have never seen it said or written. When building a wing on tubes or rods, be sure to TURN/TWIST the rods at least once a day. It seems epoxy and certain adhesives are insidious about getting on the tubes and gluing them to the ribs. Real PITA to get the tubes out a few days later. Catch it before then.  D>K

Oh but I do,, I had a similar issue on the Avenger,, and with a rib every inch,, its a real problem,, thankfully, the rib lightening holes were precut with laser tabs and the tubes were in the cutout sections, so that helped,, ( and yes, I planned it that way for just that contingency

come on Ty - this is a simple tip if your using tubes (Like ali arrow shafts)  take a pen gas torch and send flame down the tube to heat it up from the inside - then grab the end with a cloth and lightly twist - the heat makes the glue let go in most instances...

There is a simple solution to prevent gluing of rods....
Wax the rods prior to placing the ribs on them.
That way the glue cannot adhere to the rods.

Hi Guys,

I found that when ya use the A-Justo-jig it best to be sure ya have the supports on the correct side of the rib. It sure helps when ya pull the rods out and yes ya pull with a twisting motion. I just spray mine with WD-40 and wipe them off, works for me.  Haven't had trouble with glue on rods but how that its in my head, I bet the next round every rib will be glued????

I use 1/4" steel rods for my wing jig. I tack everything together with CA, and have yet to get any on the steel rods. After all, you don't slop CA around. "Just a dab will do 'ya".  Off the jig, I usually go over any critical glue joints with good ol' Ambroid.
