Title: Butyrate over nitrate
Post by: Dan Labine on May 27, 2008, 11:03:51 AM
I have given my Magician 6 coats of clear nitrate to the wing and fuselage. I am now ready for color. My question is should I give it a couple of coats of clear butyrate or go directly to color. I am not looking for a great finish just something acceptable. I am using Brodak dope.

Hi Dan,

You *can* use butyrate clear before the colors, but why?  Just extra coats of dope, and it is not necessary.  You can always use butyrate OVER nitrate but don't try it the other way.
