Title: Building the new Shark 35 Profile
Post by: Mike Griffin on January 08, 2017, 07:55:20 PM
Thought I would share some pictures I have taken while building the prototype of the new Shark 35 Profile kit I have come out with.  Basically this is the same wing and tail components that are on the full fuselage version of Lew McFarlands Shark 35.  All I had Eric Rule do was cut a profile fuselage instead of a full fuselage.  I hope you like it and please feel free to contact if you would like to order a kit.

I built the wing first so thought I would post those first.

This first picture is the plywood reinforced ribs where the tricycle gears will be mounted.

An optional wing rod jig if you wish.  This can be modified for any wing.

That's sweet! Do the ribs have tabs so it can be built without a jig?

No Bill not right now but they could probably be easily added to the cut file.  I don't show it in these pictures but I actually built this on my Jim Snelson Jig which Bill Lee makes now.

The airfoil on this wing is for modern day stunter.  Click on the paper clip attachment below to see a PDF of the plan.  The flaps have been lengthened on the root ends to accommodate a profile fuselage.

Walter

The holes are 3/16' the OD of a Carbon Fiber Rod.

Thanks for the reply, I am looking for 5/16 rods OD as I use mostly Pat Johnston designed  ribs and they are cut for 5/16. The pictures look like the
holes are bigger than 3/16?Who sells the wing jig? RSM or you?

Pat knows the arrow shaft nomenclature and I forgot, email him and he can tell you what arrow shafts to get, I prefer aluminum arrow shafts over carbon fiber, the carbon wicks CA and other glues stick to it really good, I know for me that can be an issue,,

Walter you might want to give Eric at RSM a call. I think he can cut those holes in the jig any size you want.

Mike,

Looks good, question, does the kit provide an airfoil configured rudder fin?
