Bud Nosen Balsa Wood???
« on: March 02, 2007, 08:13:07 PM »
I have a new hobby shop in my town that carries a large supply of Bud Nosen balsa wood. I have never heard of it before. Anyone know if it's good, bad or ugly?
Most of what I saw in the shop looked OK but I'm not very nowelegable about balsa selection.

I've seen it in a local shop (now gone), and I was impressed with both weight and straightness. Bud Nosen has been known for  years for his Giant Scale Reemoat Conntroall stuff, but has changed his passions and is heavily into Free Flight now, I hear. He even makes some FF kits...see the NFFS website.   D>K  Steve http://freeflight.org/store/plans/kits.htm

I have been a Bud Nosen dealer for a number of years. Thay have excellent quality and inventories. They also can provide basswood and plywood. They service kit manufacturers and hobby shops.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to try my first ever scratch build "Super Combat Streak".
It sounds reassuring that I can use the Bud Nosen balsa. The selection and quantity of each size of balsa dimension the shop has is great, like 30 pieces of 1/16"x4"x36".
I should be able to find some acceptable pieces for starting to cut ribs.

Good luck with the Super Combat Streak!  I need to build mine sometime soon!

Bud Nosen Balsa is good.

Our LHS carries Bud Nosen balsa and I like it.  The stuff marked select balsa is not as light as the stuff marked contest balsa. They both have a high percentage of good stuff.  Keith Varley
