Brodak Magician hardwood mounts
« on: August 30, 2013, 07:16:07 AM »
Hi guy's, just received my Brodak orig magician kit yesterday. Checking out the parts I found the hardwood motor mounts are only 2 1/2" long. This seems extremely short. Otheer kits I have built have at least 5 1/2 " mounts. I know this is a copy of the original kit not the Midwest one, only 43 1/2" wing span. Question is should I extend the mounts to add strength to the fuselage or are the short one's O.K. I think the modern kits went with longer mounts to add strength and help with vibration issues.   By the way I will be using an os max 25FP for power.

Thanks.

Rich

I built mine box stock.  Took third place in both Classic and Profile in Topeka last week.

Kit makers were always looking for ways to cut costs. Like you said it is a copy of a kit. Build it to make it better and make the mounts longer. The original Ringmaster had longer mounts but Sterling shortened them.
