Good Morning All;

Don't have access to a search button via mobile, so please forgive the possible redundant question...

Has anyone tried to use a sheet of blue foam insulation as a building surface (atop glass, etc) as an alternative to wallboard, celotex, ceiling tile)? Are they flat/true enough?  Seems they would be firm enough to hold pins, and not prone to breakind down/creating debris like the aforementioned.

Hi Dave,

I have a 2'X4' piece of blue foam I tape to my glass table top when I need to use pins.  It's basically the size I need to build the Brodak Warbird wings.

I also tried the blue foam and did not have much luck.  It will hold a pin if you just stick the pin into the foam, but when I tried to actually pin a piece of balsa, I found that the pin tended to wallow (sp?) a hole in the foam.  Never could get a firm hold in the foam.  I went back to the ceiling tile.
