What is the best way?????
« on: June 19, 2007, 01:58:24 PM »
If you look at the dreadnought wing from Randy Smith (and all his designs I guess) what is the best way to jig up the wing to build it?

The TE sheet looks like it needs to go down first, then the TE stoc, then the ribs sit on top ot the TE sheet and join to the TE........

so how do you make a jig to set this up????  I have a jig for the vector 40 (same construction type) using angled blocks.

What I really need to know is how do you support the ribs until you get the TE glued on?

Noting that the ribs I have a laser cut with no Jig holes......anyone got any tricks here for me?

A Tom Morris type jig would probably be easiest.

I've built several SV stunt planes. I use a Tom Morris Jig.

Wynn,

Talk to Tom. He sells the wood "Lincoln Log" jig pieces pretty reasonably. Or you can go all out like I did (made my own) and buy one from Jim Snelson at Control Line Central.
