I am building the Legacy 60 kit from Brodak. Why the bellcrank on a post through the sheeting rather than the assembly mounted to plywood like we have done for ages?

Hi Terry,
Typically, this type of bellcrank mounting extends through the wing sheeting and uses a plywood reinforcement and/or doubler that fits snuggly between the plywood fuselage doublers on the top and bottom of the wing.  The bellcrank pivot rod passes through these plywood doublers and reinforces the pivot rod at each end.  The flight loads are transferred to these plywood doublers and away from the wing via the B/C pivot rod.  This is an extremely robust way to mount the bellcrank on any built up or foam wing.  I hope this helps. y1
