Title: Base color on SCARF STANG
Post by: Leester on April 02, 2007, 03:50:49 PM
I finally got good weather and sprayed the base color on the SCARF STANG. One question, I mixed approx. 6oz of silver and thinned a little over same amount. I must have had the right combo as I think it turned out pretty good. There is just a little of the mix left maybe an oz. did I use to much on this ? No flaps or elevators were painted.
Thanks

Hi Lee,

Did you use too much?  I dunno.  Is it covered well?  Anything past that is too much.  The actual amount is just dependant on what it takes to give the minimum color coverage, no more.  Clear coats do the rest.  What you have there looks good!

Dope takes more to cover than acrylic lacquers which take A LOT more to cover than basecoat/clearcoat automotive colors.  I used only about 4 oz. of Chromabase light green to cover my Argus completely but it covers so much better.  I think we used a touch over two oz. (all these are "mixed" totals) of basecoat Sonic Blue to paint a complete Tomahawk.  I used a normal gravity feed touch up gun..  maybe could have used even less if I had airbrushed it!
