Ok, so it's been 30 years since building an airplane and nearly 30 years since flying. Quick fyi, mid life crisis had me wanting to build a plane so I picked what I used to fly, a Sig Banshee. The instructions were a bit vague on bellcrank/pushrod assembly and the pictures did not show what direction the pushrod went into the bellcrank. So, I took an uneducated guess and inserted the pushrod from the bottom of the bellcrank. After sheeting the wing (smart...I know) I realized the the bend in the rod end that is inserted into the flap control horn is facing the fuselage as opposed to having the rod next to the fuselage and the bend facing out. Hope that makes sense. Should I take it apart and rework this so the rod goes throught the top of the bellcrank and the end for the flap control horn faces away from the fuselage or just go with what I've done?
If I need to redo this the next question would be: The end of the pushrod will rub the plywood bellcrank mount so do I make a bend in the wire like what I see in the old 1/2 a planes (some type of z bend) or would I perhaps but a wheel collar on the top and bottom to hold it off of the bellcrank or heck... how would I do that? Boy, it's been a long time.
Power: Fox 35 stunt
Knocked of 1 inch of nose
Replance plywood doubler on engine side with 1/8 birch plywood
Adding 1/2 inch balsa tripler on outside panel (can thin out if recommended)
Plan to install adjustable leadouts and weight box
Another quickie, since plane was designed for Fox 35 is the one inch taken off enough or should I add to the rear moment/length a little?
PS: forgot how much fun it is to build these things. Thanks folks. Anyone fly in Houston or surrounding any more?

I always try to put the pushrod in the bellcrank so that the plywood holds it in place. Even putting a plywood plate on the top side with the bolt long enough to go thru the plate. Just double insurance that bellcrank plat form will stay put. In other words I have two plates of plywood in the bellcrank mounting area. DOC Holliday

As for flying in Houston the guy's go to Dick Scobee flying area in Barker resovior of Hwy 6 in the Katy Tex area.
Post here for Lonestar as he can give more directions..
I fly at their Memorial Day contest sometime...And that is where they hold them...

Thanks. I suppose I'll leave it as it is, there is no chance of it coming loose or binding the way it is installed. H^^

I saw Fox 35 on you post for the power plant. Make sure and locate the post for a "bypass plug" here on Stunt Hanger and do the motor mods for a MUCH BETTER and reliable motor. Several of the motors have been done here at our club and it truly makes the Fox 35 a better piece!

He is listed here on S-Hanger, Jim's got alot of things to make our life better. Try a BYO prop from Sam's Hobbies for best torque. I have had three Banchees across the years and they were alot of fun!

Still not finished with the plane. Very close. Boy, last time I did this stuff I was a kid. My quality of work has me a bit embarrassed to go out and fly it in public.
I haven't done anything with the motor as of yet. I have read some of the info that you are taliking about. I may post a pic on here if folks promise not to laugh too hard at my lack of craftsmanship skills. LL~

Ronald,
It has been 37 years for me and I am building a Voodoo and a Skat Rat / Rat Racer. I too have not built a plane since I was a kid but it is coming back to me little by little. Lots of mistakes and do overs but coming together. Plus lots of great folks here to help when a question comes up. I am sure your plane will look great. Please post pictures when done. Welcome back!

You haven't seen my planes in person yet. Besides the more we do the more we learn. But, it seems I keep forgetting. DOC Holliday
