Man, I just ordered about $150 worth of balsa from AK-Models and the shipping was only $12. Sheesh! Cool people, by the way.

One needs to ask how much would you ask to do the same Job.
A person on here asked me for a make a set of plans for a old time model I have. If I did the drawing for free. I would have to go to the copy shop and get a copy made $8-10 and a round driving trip of two hours and a trip to the post office and the cost of shipping the plans $5-10. He thought $20 was outrageous.
I live in a rural area east of Charlotte and nothing is close to me.
I have the same problem with electronics parts. Amazon has free shipping on over $35 and a electronic business I use has a $20 minimum. ~^

Can you order by density, or do they have the typical "just like what you get" RC attitude?

They have a selection service (it cost you), but I just ordered "contest balsa" and was pretty happy with what I got. For instance, I ordered 8 sheets of 3/8"x4x36. 4 were 5lb or lighter (one was, I swear, 2lb stock). 3 were in the 6-9lb range. Not bad and certain useable for spars and such. One was a plank but I'm sure I can use it for something.

Randy Powell can you get 48" balsa from them also? Or is it limited to just 36" sheets?

   Thanks,

They don't show 1/8 balsa or birch ply.

Down at the bottom of each page is a page number (the navigation of the site is a bit interesting). Just click on the next page number and Viola! 1/8" balsa. Plywood is on a different page. I also got 1/8, 1/16, and some 1/32 birch ply.

You have to scan around a bit to navigate the thing.
