Hi ,

Okay , here goes ...

Are flaps epoxied to the flap horns , or can they be left as is and slid onto the flap horn ?

I can see when using "Lucky boxes" ,  epoxy should not be used . What if I use bass wood "clips" ?

I guess my second question should be ...

If I'm going to insert the wire flap horn to a plain balsa flap should I epoxy , or not ?

As you stated, epoxy everything except lucky boxes.. I have epoxied horns directly into balsa flaps on several ships without issues.

A plywood box that just fits the control horn wire. It allows the wire to move sideways for tapered, dihedral or swept wings. Can't remember how it got it's name.. I used lucky boxes on both the flaps and elevators of the FJ-4 carrier airplane I'm building. The wing is both swept and has dihedral, the elevators are swept.

"Lucky Box" got it's name from Royal "Lucky" Pyatt, the developer. RSM includes Lucky Boxes with many of their excellent kits.

If you use 3/32 horns, 1/8x1/4 square brass tubing works great for Lucky boxes.

After drilling the horn wire hole pin prick the areas above and below the tunnell. Then wick thin CA into the hole and the outside pinpricks. Sand and fill, or cover with cloth hinges. Open up with a hand drill if needed. Has worked as good or better for me than plywood sandwiches when "tweaking". And it's invisable! On straight trailing edges, epoxy the horn wire.
