Sparky, we have watched you build awesome airplanes faster than anyone I can name from anywhere. (this is not my point). So I was thinking, what would the chances be of you teaching an on-line class to us guys that have only a few big stunters built. That is:
everyone gets the same plans for an airplane.
everyone buys the same size wood that you suggest
everyone gets the same hardware you suggest
Then- you let us know what part to build first. You will have posted the lesson in a couple pics, and give us say, 2 days til the next step is given. We will have to post our progress as well.
I think doing this would show us, (me) the best order of assembly to build quickly and straight. Sort of a lesson in building practices.
Why? I have been all over the place building my Cardinal. Its taken a while to get this far. I started it last summer, and have shelved it several times, even building other planes in between working on this project. I would benifit from being shown a better way.
What do you guys think about it? I know it would be fun. 6 or 7 of us building the same plane at the same time. Would be cool I think.
So? What do you all think about it?
I hope I got my idea across clearly

sounds like good idea to me too

OK here's how it goes. All who would like to build a SV 40 ,Tempest 40 ,Dreadnouht 40 or Vector 40 all basically the same planes will be supplied plans. I will send a detailed supply's list and lesson plan. We will build this together in a 2 month period. I would hope that all could follow along at that pace. If we need to pic it up we can. Progress will be displayed by all who are building before we as a group can proceed.
One thing that you must consider before undertaking this project is that it take dedication to achieve the end results. All who are agreed list your name here and send an email to sparky@stunthanger.com and we will get the ball rolling.
Plans supplied Free Of Charge from Randy Smith.

Excellent Sparky,
if this idea flys, it would be excellent.
As for a design, Vector? Viper? I'm open for almost anything.
:D

Good idea, I voted in the poll.
Like the idea of a Vector (40)

I agree that for a 40 size ship the Vector would be good because there are the SV40,Tempest 40 ,Dreadnought 40 and Vector 40 that Aero Products have. These I believe are all based on the same basic wing ect so you could choose any of them and still all the builds would be very much the same?(Randy?) As for a 60 ship I would go for the Intrepid XL. Let get the ideas in this could be fun! ;D
I am in email sent Sparky!

I want in this also sounds good Thanks Brad Smith ;D

Vector 40 sounds good. I was just looking at the Brodak kit of the Vector the other day at the hobby store near me.
-
I too vote for the Vector 40. I have one sitting on the shelf doing what John Paris calls "drying the wood for lightness." What engine would you guy use to power it up?
-
This will be a plans built plane ? Hope so, have new scroll saw and sander my daughters bought me christmas, havent used it yet should be a great time.
-
Am I understanding correctly?, if one guy wanted a Vector 40 and another guy wanted a Dreadnought 40, we each will be supplied plans for said airplane? or were those our choices?
I am ready to devote some time to a build like this. cant wait!

Count me in. The Vector 40 is a great plane. I am flying one now made from a Brodak kit. Would love to make one from scratch.
-
Could some of us follow at our own pace? In my case I would only want to watch you build and learn from your instructions.
-
Hi Fernando: Anybody can just watch, I've got to many other projects going to start another one but I'll still tune in.

I beleive that we have our choice of these planes .The Dreadnought 40,Vector 40,Tempest 40 and SV 40 .All are the same basic planes with slight alterations .So choose the one that appeals to you .I am going to get Randy to send me all the extras ,gear ,controls ,canopy ,tank ect so I will be ready.I need the extra drive that in 2 days where moving on with or without you !!!!!!!! Should be kind off fun as a group.

How much were the plans for the plane, and how much for the other gear ? Does he have the horns and such
-
Probably a stupid question, but -
Will the wing be a built up or a foamie?
Have a Vector 40 kit, won at the KOI, and plans.
Will register on other post.

talked to Randy today, Went with the Dreadnought. Plans on there way. He said he has the horns and canopys also. Will be sending in an order for the rest of the stuff from him once list of materials posted. Nice guy

If I didn't have a few planes that I have got to finish up, I would loved to have joined in!
It will be great to see how y'all do with Sparky leading the way.
My son has a pretty new Satana with foam wings and a PA 40 (piped) like Robert is going to build. It really flys nicely!

Put me on the list too even tho I have built 2 vectors, I would still like to see how you do it.
